The Chicken Wing Kings Fly to New HQ

After three years of success as London’s chicken wing, street food specialist in pub residences and city wide pop ups, Richard and Andy (Randy) have opened their first permanent bar in Hackney Riviera.
When next in Hackney, you can pull up a stool at the pub and relish chunks of the special chicken treats, gulp great drinks and enjoy good times in a cool ambience. There are plenty of al fresco dining options including tables and deck chairs, and the well-maintained grassy canal verges where you can enjoy your lunch in the mild sunlight.
This chicken wings dedicated restaurant is the concept of two great friends with a mutual love of chicken wings. To put the wind in their sail, the ‘Randy’ pair, Richard Thacker and Andy Watts, went on a culinary trip to America to gain insights and create the perfect chicken wing.
Launching the business as a street-food concept, Richard and Andy’s vision was to reproduce from their US travels, the traditional North American ‘Buffalo Wings,’ which is served fried and tossed in buffalo gravy with truffle blue cheese.
It was a runaway success and they seized the momentum to create four other good licking chicken wing recipes, including, ‘Bombay Wings’ – spicy chicken delicacies that will keep you drooling long before you get to have a bite. There is also the ‘Hanoi Tuk Tuk,’ a tantalizing chicken wing fried in traditional Vietnamese fish sauce. However, most customers prefer the sizzling ‘Gangnam,’ Korean-fried wings, with a tasty, sticky glaze that drips all over your chops.
The lip-smacking feasts of chicken wings are served by the dozen and come with different toppings, and the cooking methods vary. For instance, the moist Bombay wings are first baked, then grilled to give them a soft burned outer, similar to what you would get out of a clay oven.
Chicken burgers and crunchy, battered buffalo shrimp are also on the menu in Randy Wings, but from 6.pm on Mondays, only chicken wings are available for order for £12. To tempt your taste buds, why not order some fruity cocktails and chicken skin scratching and chicken liver popcorn before the main course.
The exterior and interior at Randy’s have the feel of the all-American welcome and heritage. The staff are great, making sure you are at ease and having a good time. They are everywhere they should be and will bring your chicken wings, burger or crunchy shrimp orders with drinks to your preferred seating area, the deckchairs or the grassy edge outside. They are always on hand to package up any leftovers and will eagerly give you good cocktail tips.
So, when next you are in Hackney Wick and looking for a great place to spoil yourself a little, check in at Randy’s Wing Bar for its mouthwatering varieties of special chicken servings, complete with great drinks and fruity delights. It is a foodie’s dream adventure.
