Plans are being put on ground by the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to launch a free business advice scheme. This scheme will be aimed at start-up businesses in the technological and financial industries in the UK. With each passing day, there are more and more start-up businesses emerging across the UK. This scheme will bring together the finest of the university’s experts in technology and finance together with everyday regular entrepreneurs.
Launch Schedule
This scheme, qNomics initiative, will begin in November of 2015 at the University’s School of Economics and Finance. The initiative is aimed at teaching and equipping entrepreneurs on accounting, business planning, regulatory compliance, funding, and marketing strategy. The University’s law and economics students would be delivering these client-based sessions. Bovill consultancy firm is providing support to the students.
The scheme is projected to run annually from November to April and would have its first clinics at the University’s Mile End campus and Lincoln’s Inn Field campus. The scheme will be led by Leon Vinokur. Vinokur is a senior lecturer at QMUL’s School of Economics and Finance.
When asked to comment about the scheme, Vinokur stated that the programme, qNomics, allows students to get real life, up-to-date experience in consultancy. This also translates to good mentoring for start-up businesses in London at zero cost.
In relation to the university, Vinokur agrees with what the university is doing in helping to engage the local community and the economy in general. He believes the Mile End campus is doing exactly what it was established to do.
