Catch a one-hour train from London to Brighton for a relaxing day trip by the seaside. Here are a few things you should check out in Brighton.
British Airways i360
In August 2016, British Airways opened up BAi360. You can fly up to 450ft in a space-style pod for views of Brighton and Hove. Just make sure to book your space in advance, as it can get booked up quickly in peak seasons! Since the opening, many places in Brighton have started featured rooftop art that you can see from the BAi360.
Brighton Pier
Check out the Victorian pier for funfair rides, photo booths, candy floss, and traditional fish and chips. Delicious! Brighton Pier is one of the most iconic parts of the area and a must-see for any new visitor. Brighton Sea Life Centre is next door to the pier and is the world’s oldest aquarium that’s still open for visitors.
The Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion is a breath-taking structure and is the pinnacle of Brighton’s architecture. The Pavilion was built for George IV as his seaside retreat and features multiple domes, minarets, and turrets with some magical night-time lighting. There is even an outdoor ice rink just outside the Pavilion at Christmas.
The Lanes
Visit the Lanes for a variety of independent stores, brunch spots and some outstanding restaurants. Celebrities and influencers typically visit the Lanes to grab a colourful Instagram or their afternoon coffee. Make sure to keep an eye out for them – you might be able to grab a snap with one of your favourite YouTubers!
The Lanes feature some stunning sixteenth-century buildings and several winding passageways to bookshops, record stores and a few vintage emporiums. Spend a day wandering through the different shops and make sure to visit a few food spots along the way. Donatello’s has some excellent Italian food on offer.
Banksy in Brighton
When you arrive at the train station, you will be greeted with some fantastic street art. There is a Banksy mural on the wall of Prince Albert pub, named ‘Kissing Policeman.’ As you walk around Brighton, you will spot several other street art pieces, particularly around the North Laine area. Trafalgar Lane is covered in murals on the side of houses and shop fronts – it’s a must-see for any street art fans!
